The history of making Battle for Blockchain, from July 2023 to April 2025, by Minters Corp.

Hey guys, stokarz here again. It all started with me being bored back in 2021 at the market top, and thinking "hmm, what the f*ck is crypto even useful for?". As I was really tired of trading, I ventured into the old Hal Finney's writings on crypto trading cards. It was an idea that did it for me: combined my longtime love for video games and crypto.

Me irl, in 2021, thinking about crypto games

What if we could make this functional and real, and then revolutionize eSports, through democratizing these financial opportunities for every player in the world? After all, crypto is amazing for money stuff, and gives you programmability to do whatever you want with this money.

We set up a company that was meant to do this: Minters Corp. Spoiler ahead: we did much more.

We did some projects before. It all started on Starknet, with our first hackathon, building fully onchain game of snake. After some back and forth, a year after we launched Rhascau, fully onchain pod racing game with stakes. Okay, it wasn't the best, and we didn't really know how to do anything ok? Next, we did some bots like kamiBot, indexers, multiplexers, frontend frameworks connecting onchain data with gaming dev engines like Godot, (include other fancy crypto infra words) - to our surprise, despite really big money pilling into crypto, nobody was tackling these problems. Maybe they were boring af. Sure, but we are boring too sometimes, and we like doing plumbing work.

Activity-Based Cryptocurrency Distribution Mechanism: EthCC [6] - July 2023

Here is me, doxxing myself to a French audience, talking about the protocol design we did internally. The question we wanted to answer was: how can we find the most optimal crypto distro mechanism that incentivise GENERALIZED activity (not like your boomer Bitcoin, which only does that for mining).

It's April 2025 as I am writing this, and let me tell you - we found the way. It's not live in Battle for Blockchain (only a minimalized, and still not-generalized version of the protocol), but I plan to launch it in our next production.

If you have shmictillion dollars to build it inside the fully onchain MMORPG, dm me on X @stokasz

First Demo: Devcon Istanbul - November 2023

First demos are ugly. Our first demo was ugly too, and barely functional. However, it showcased the idea had some legs (unless our playtesters on Devcon lied).

MUD Demo Day: Devcon Bangkok - November 2024

At this point, we worked on the game for a year, and it started to show. My hair also grew longer, and I gained a few kg (before losing it, all right?) from being a founder. They say startups are fun, but at the same time do not mention that you cannot really work 14h per day, if you want to also look like a greek god.

Alpha Release - December 2024

First publicly available build. 20 DAU, and we were shitting our pants bcs nobody worked (but then it worked really well).

Initia Freeze Campaign - January 2025

gwoven! we hosted a special campaign with Initia, featuring Jennie's lair zone, and an immersive questline designed to let the best players farm our presale allocations.

The Path of Kings Questline - February 2025

A moment in time where players got to know the old king of Culinaris. Introduction to the mold timeline in Battle for Blockchain's history. Plague nearly made our little guys extinct (they all died), before the King Sweet (the lil guy on the right side) fought the mold back successfully, and reunited the kingdom.

Interwoven: Assemble! - March 2025

We did the campaign with 22 different Initia eco projects ahead of the Initia's mainnet launch (which got delayed). Close to $100k in total rewards from partners, and more than 4k players (with peak 700 DAU). Was fun if you were there.

22 custom made zones, questline showcasing the unity of the Initia's realm, and much more.

The Garden Hunt - April 2025

Final questline of our testnet(ing) period. Indiana Jones meets Jennie, in the exciting Garden Hunt. You needed to help a ghost who was stuck in the old altair. Players who completed the questline got the Jennie's Figurine, a mysterious artifact of an ancient power. More to be announced!
